Earlier today, while watching a video of an upcoming game, Black Myth: Wukong, Twitch streamer Lirik called out racists in his chat and blasted their “dumb” logic.
Sadly, racism still runs rampant within the gaming community. It is common for gamers to use slurs and racially charged insults against others, especially in online games like Call of Duty. Casual racism is often brushed aside and overlooked.
Lirik Calls Out Racists In His Chat
But Lirik wasn’t going to allow any racism in his Twitch chat. While watching a video of an upcoming game, Black Myth: Wukong, chatters on Lirik’s channel were posting racially charged comments targetted towards the game’s developers who are of Chinese origin.
“Chat, let me ask you guys something. Why are you guys such a bunch of fucks, some of you guys? Yea, it’s Chinese. Why does that matter?” Lirik stated.
“Some of the shit you guys say is so stupid. I know whatever China does politically is not good, or I’m not in favor of (it). But it doesn’t mean you generalize the whole fucking country.” Lirik stated to his chat.
Lirik clarified that being against government policies doesn’t give people the right to generalize and be racist towards everyone from China. He called out the chatters that were racist towards the game developers in his chat and told them to shut up.
Online Racism Against Asians
Due to the global situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in hate and racism towards Asians, both online and offline. Asian content creators have also been affected due to the rise in hate and racism.
