Team BDS lifted the trophy at the Rocket League World Championship 2021-22 and declared themselves the best team in the world in the final event of a year-long competition.
After two weeks of fierce competition through the Wildcard and Group Stage, eight of the best teams in the world made it to Championship Sunday to play Rocket League in front of 13,000 fans at the Dickies Arena.
Moist Esports, FURIA, Team BDS, Karmine Corp, G2 Esports, The General NRG, FaZe Clan, and Version1 competed in the most prestigious tournaments of their lives. They fought against each other to cement their names as the best in the world.

But only one team could have their moment of glory. Following their victory over the talented French team Karmine Corp and crowd favorite FURIA from Brazil, Team BDS punched their ticket to the grand final.
On the other side, G2 Esports made their impressive run through an all-American bracket. They defeated The General NRG and FaZe Clan to earn their spot in the grand final. The classic NA v.s EU matchup at the Rocket League World Championship was the perfect conclusion to a year-long competition.
With a Major win under the belt of each team and the reputation of being the best team in their region on their side, the teams fought each other to cement their names in history as the best in the world.
Team BDS, Your World Champions
And the Grand Finals was an absolute smackdown. The European titan that dominated over the region for the last two years, Team BDS, crushed the North American sweethearts, G2 Esports, with a 4-1 victory over them.
The Grand Finals match wasn’t close, with North American fans rooting for G2 Esports rushing out of the stadium before the series concluded. Fans didn’t expect much out of the North American crowd, which has a reputation for being lackluster and half-hearted.
But their behavior preceded their reputation, and they further lowered the standards of what Esports fans hope out of a North American live audience.
Despite the crowd’s pathetic sportsman spirit, Team BDS celebrated their victory and now enjoys reigning over Rocket League as the World Champions.
While the team was hoisting the trophy, Seikoo was awarded the overall MVP award for the event, while M0nkey M00n was named Defensive MVP alongside the Offensive MVP from G2, Chicago.
Rocket League Esports has come a long way since its last World Championship. And the future looks promising with the ceiling rising at every competition.
